மழைக் குறிப்பு

நீண்ட நாட்களுக்குப் பிறகு மழை நாள் ஒன்றில் வீட்டில் இருக்கிறேன்.நீண்ட கோடைக்குப் பின் வந்த மழை என்பதால் யாரும் மழையை கடிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை.எல்லோர் மனதிலும் ஒரு ஆனந்தம் மிதந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறது.ஒரு மழை நாளில் அமைதியாய் வீட்டில் இருப்பதற்கு இப்போது அரிதாகத்தான் சந்தர்ப்பம் கிடைக்கிறது.வீட்டு ஜன்னல்களைத் திறந்து வைத்துக் கொண்டு மழையைக் காண்பது ஒவ்வொரு வயதிலும் நடப்பதுதான்.ஆனால் அது ஒவ்வொரு வயதிலும் வெவ்வேறு அனுபவங்களாக நிகழ்கிறது.

சிறுவனாக இருந்த நாட்களில் மழை பெய்யும் போது காகிதக் கப்பல் செய்து விளையாடும் நினைவு எப்போது மழை பெய்தாலும் நினைவுக்கு வருகிறது.ஆனால் இந்த வயதில் ஒரு காகிதக் கப்பலை செய்து நீரில் விட மனது நினைப்பதேயில்லை.வீட்டில் திட்டு வாங்குவோம் எனத் தெரிந்தும்,கைகளில் குடையிருந்தும் நனைந்து கொண்டே இந்த வானத் திற்குக் கீழ் திரிந்த நாட்களைத் தொலைத்து எத்தனை வருடங்க ளாகின்றன.இருந்தும் அப்படிச் செய்து பார்க்க மறுபடி நினைத்ததில்லை. வெறித்தபடி மழையைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறோம்.அவ்வளவுதான்.

பேரூந்து அல்லது ரயிலில் இருந்து மழையைப் பார்ப்பது மழையோடு பயணிப்பதைப் போன்றது.பயணம் முழுக்க “இறங்கும் போது எப்படியாவது மழை நின்று விட வேண்டும்“ என்ற பிரார்த்தனையோடே மனது இருக்கும்.வேகமாக ஜன்னலில் பட்டுத் தெரிக்கும் ஒரு துளி மழையானது எம்மைப் பாதிக்கும் ஒரு கவி வரி போலவே இருக்கின்றது.ஜன்னலில் படிந்திருக்கும் துவானத்தில் நம் பெயரையோ நமக்குப் பிடித்தவர்களின் பெயரையோ யாரும் காணாத வன்னம் எழுதி அழித்து விடுகிறோம்.ஆனால் குழந்தைகள் அதன் பாட்டிற்கு எழுதிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.

ஒரு மழைநாளில் இந்தப் பிரபஞ்சமே நனைகிறது.மனிதர்கள் எப்படியாவது தம்மை மழையிலிருந்து பாதுகாத்துக் கொள்ளவே விரும்புகிறார்கள்.ரயிலுக்குள் அமர்ந்திருக்கிறேன் முழு ரயிலும் நனைகிறது.ரவிக்குமாரின் இந்தக் கவிதை வரிகளோடு என் நினைவும் அதன் பயணத்தைத் தொடர ஆரம்பிக்கிறது.

மழையில் நிற்கும் ரயிலை விட

சோகமானது வேறெதுவும் உண்டா

என்று கேட்கிறாய்

தண்டவாளம் எப்படி மறந்தது உனக்கு.

US Tightens Sanctions on Syria

Hardening the international front against Damascus' continuous crackdown on pro-democracy protesters, the United States slapped new sanctions by freezing assets of Syrian officials, as Europe imposed an arms embargo against President Bashar Al-Assad regime.

"The United States strongly condemns the Syrian government's continued use of violence and intimidation against the Syrian people," the White House said in a statement cited by Agence France Presse (AFP) on Friday, April 29.

New Egypt Eclipses Israel's Clout

After years of 'cold peace' between the two former foes, relations between Egypt and Israel are growing strained following the overthrow of president Hosni Mubarak and Cairo's policy shift toward the Palestinians.

Last week, Egypt succeeded in bringing together rival groups Hamas and Fatah to sign a deal to close ranks after four years of feud.

The Egyptian success came less than two months after the ouster of Mubarak, whose previous efforts to reconcile between the two rival groups had been fruitless.

Cairo's moves to open the Rafah border crossing permanently are also adding to the tension.

The terminal, the only gateway for Israel-blockaded Gaza Strip to the outside world, has been closed since Hamas ousted President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah group from the strip in 2007 after a deadly infighting.

Under Mubarak's regime, Egypt had refused to open up the crossing as a sign of pressure on Hamas, a policy that earned Cairo praise from Israel and chief ally the United States.

Egypt to Open Gaza Crossing Permanently

Egypt said it will permanently open the Rafah border crossing to ease the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip, sparking Israeli concerns over the Egyptian shift towards the Palestinian enclave.

Egypt would take "important steps to help ease the blockade on Gaza in the few days to come," Foreign Minister Nabil al-Arabi said in an interview on Friday, April 29, with Al-Jazeera satellite channel, Agence-France Presse (AFP) reported.

Yemeni President to Quit for Immunity

SANAA – Facing unabated protests for an end to his 32-year rule, Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has accepted a Gulf Arab plan to step down in return for immunity from prosecution.

"The ruling party informed the foreign ministers of the GCC of their acceptance of the Gulf initiative in full," Tariq Shami, spokesman of the General People's Congress, told Reuters late Saturday, April 23, referring to the Gulf Cooperation Council.
