ABUJA – Incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan is set for election victory in Nigeria after securing almost double the vote of his main rival Muhammadu Buhari.
"This is no time for triumphalism," Oronto Douglas, a senior advisor to Jonathan, told Reuters on Sunday, April 17.
“It is a time for deep reflection, for strengthening the bond of our union and for all of us to work together.”
The vote pits Jonathan, backed by the national machinery of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), against Buhari, a former military ruler supported by the mostly-Muslim north.
